As part of a team of consultants, Ravenkop advised the Laudes Foundation on effective interventions to accelerate the use of climate-friendly timber in the built environment. By analysing the construction system as a whole—from regulation and market dynamics to knowledge development and scaling—key leverage points were identified where targeted interventions could have the greatest impact. This work laid the foundation for the Built by Nature initiative, which aims to accelerate timber construction as a viable and sustainable alternative within the building industry.
How do you work on neighborhood improvement from within the neighborhood? How do you involve the local community in a successful way? Bouwkeet, the makerspace of Bospolder-Tussendijken, is working with the neighborhood on broadening the world of the neighboorhood’s youth, empowering them and advancing their 21st century skills. On behalf of Ravenkop, Rayhaneh acted as interim director of Bouwkeet for six months, focusing among other things on perpetuating the foundation’s first successes, further developing processes, organization and culture and offering a glimpse into the foundation’s future.

Ravenkop, in collaboration with Buro Moon, OTO Landscape and the Decohof in Dalfsen, has won the national ‘Brood & Spelen’ competition for further development of their ‘Start-up Farm’ idea. A proposal for a new network of rural estates where new entrepreneurship is the central theme as a means to breathe new life into the countryside – because diverse entrepreneurship and the space to experiment within small-scale agricultural and horticultural businesses can be the innovation engine for this sector.
Building on insights from the first years of practical experience, Ravenkop supported the municipality in recalibrating the philosophy and ground rules guiding the area’s further development. By analysing experiences from daily practice and translating them into a refined development strategy, the process explored where the original principles could be reinforced and where adjustments were necessary. The recalibration provides direction for the next phase of Oosterwold, maintaining space for initiative and experimentation while allowing for stronger steering on coherence, feasibility and quality.
To stimulate the emergence and realization of housing cooperatives in Haarlem, Ravenkop developed a framework for the municipality that clarifies how local government can support and facilitate such initiatives. Combining theory and practical examples, the framework explores how housing cooperatives can contribute to affordable housing as well as to broader societal goals, such as strengthening citizen involvement in shaping the living environment. The framework was applied to the development of Zwemmerslaan, resulting in concrete recommendations to enable a housing cooperative at this location.
Urban agriculture is a core element of Oosterwold and contributes to the unique combination of living, working and farming in the area. Ravenkop supported the Oosterwold area organisation in redefining the objectives for urban agriculture, with the aim of enabling better steering towards intended results and strengthening the collective learning process. A key component of this approach is the development of an annual self-reporting mechanism, allowing urban farmers to reflect on their activities and look ahead. By drawing lessons together, the fertile land of Oosterwold can be put to even better use.
How do we deal with the rapidly growing housing and care needs of the elderly in the city? How do we create value in projects and neighborhoods by offering room for collective living solutions? With which new concepts can we offer vulnerable groups a suitable place in the city to minimize the chance of a relapse? Ravenkop is working for the municipality of Utrecht on identifying, nurturing and guiding valuable new housing concepts, that are currently stuck behind hurdles, towards realization.
Ravenkop supports the municipality of Tilburg in stimulating the further development of the business districts Vossenberg, Kraaiven and Loven. The focus lies on realising ambitions related to densification and future-proofing. Working across different municipal domains, Ravenkop helps connect implementation agendas to concrete actions and identifies obstacles that hinder progress. In this way, the project contributes to accelerating implementation and actively driving the transition of Tilburg’s business districts.
